Abstract

This chapter offers an overview of past and present Romani Bible translation activities and resultant products and compares developments in this field to the use of Romani in the wider religious domain. In this overview, Bible translation is used as a cover term for both written and spoken Bible translation products and also includes the translation of Bible-related literature. Whereas the aim of this chapter is primarily descriptive, it also discusses some of the factors that may help to explain the successes and failures of the many translation initiatives that have been undertaken.
